UPSC Indian Engineering (ESE) Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2016| Full Detail about Exam and Selection Process

UPSC Indian Engineering Service is going to hire for the post of Civil Mechanical Electrical Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers through UPSC Exam.Candidate can take information regarding exam pattern and syllabus from given below details.

Exam Pattern

The Candidates have to give three stages of exam to select for the applied post.

1. Preliminary Exam
2. Mains Exam
3. Personality Test


Preliminary Exam


Examination will consist of two objective type (multiple choices) questions papers and carrying a maximum of 500 marks. In The Preliminary Exam Paper -II Subject is differ according differ Category.There will be negative marking of 0.33 Marks for objective type paper.

Paper – i General Studies & Engineering Aptitude 200 2 Hrs.
Paper – ii Civil/ Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics & Tele Communication Engineering 300 3 hrs.
Total 500 Marks 5 Hrs.

Mains Exam

Candidates who qualified the Preliminary Exam are eligible to participate the mains exam.Candidate must have know that in this examination will consist two types of papers with duration of three hours and maximum marks of 600 (300 Marks in each paper).

Paper – i Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics & Tele Communication Engineering 300 3 Hrs.
Paper – ii Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics & Tele Communication Engineering 300 3 hrs.
Total 600 Marks 6 Hrs.

Personality Test

Candidate’s must have pass out the Personality Test because it enhances the capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application and integrity of character of the candidate.Final selection will be based on total marks of written exam and interview.
