UPSC Indian Forest Service Mains Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2016| Details of Exam and Syllabus are as follows

Union Public Service Commission is going to conduct an examination of Indian Forest Service. UPSC will organize the Indian Forest Service exam in two stages:
Stage-1 - Indian Forest Service exam is Preliminary exam & 
Stage-2 - UPSC Indian Forest Service is Mains Exam.

Exam Pattern

There are total 6 Papers in IFS Mains Written Exam.

Paper-V Optional Subject-2 Paper-I 200 Marks 3 Hours
Paper-VI Optional Subject-2 Paper-II 200 Marks 3 Hours

1. Candidates who qualify the Mains Written Exam will have to face Personality Test i.e. Interview. Interview will be of 300 marks.

2. Candidates have to Select any Two Subjects as Optional Subject from the following Subjects
  • Agriculture 
  • Agricultural Engineering 
  • Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science 
  • Botany 
  • Chemistry 
  • Chemical Engineering 
  • Civil Engineering 
  • Forestry 
  • Geology 
  • Mathematics 
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Physics 
  • Statistics 
  • Zoology

General English: Candidates will be required to write an essay in English. Other questions will be designed to test their understanding of English and workmanlike use of words. Passages will usually be set for summary or précis.

General Knowledge: General Knowledge including knowledge of current events, Indian Polity including the political system and the Constitution of India, History of India and Geography.
