International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, founded in 1954, is one of the oldest short film festivals in the world and one of the major international platforms for the short form.

  • International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is conducted in three parts:
  • International Competition
  • German Competition
  • NRW Competition
  • International Children’s and Youth Film Competition

Entry deadline for German productions and MuVi Award 15 February 2017

Who can participate

Both Male and Female can apply. All India region can apply.
→ The contest is open to participants of all nationalities.
→ There is no age limit for applying.

Scholarship Reward

The total sum of awards 25,500 €. The International Jury will award the following prizes:

Grand Prize of the City of Oberhausen € 8,000
Principal Prize € 4,000
the e-flux Prize € 3,000

Application form and Process

Candidates can submit works of all genres not exceeding a length of 35 minutes. Productions entering the International Competition must have been completed after January 2017

Submissions to the International Competition must be made online or received in Oberhausen no later than 1 February 2017

Selection Process

All submitted films will be previewed for every appropriate festival program. All the selected candidates will be informed of the selection results in mid-March 2017
